April - June 2015
Where has the time gone? We have been busy over the last several months. The biggest project was finishing our basement. We now have more room to play, and an extra space to watch our favorite shows. There is a good amount of Mickey Mouse Club, Dora the Explorer and Doc McStuffins in our house.
Easter was a great time of celebration with family and friends. Emmalyn Broooke received several Easter baskets and even went on her first Easter Egg Hunt with a couple of her cousins and other kids from the neighborhood. We had a few other cousins visit with us over Spring Break. When we took them home, we attended the Pine Car Derby at their church. Brooke was given a couple checkered flags to cheer on her favorite cars/cousins.
In May, she attended her first Bridal Shower/Tea Party. She did great visiting with several of her aunts, more cousins, grammy & both great-grandmothers. We also had the opportunity to travel to SC to visit with some of Jenny's extended family. She had a great time over Memorial Day at a family picnic.
As you know, we were given the opportunity to speak at the Adoption Workshop for Bethany in June. It was great to see you, Katy, and meet your mom. Thank you for sticking around a little longer so the three of us could catch up with you. We missed you David, but you were definitely in our thoughts!
Jeff officiated his sister's wedding in June. I was a bridesmaid, and Brooke was one of the flower girls. Since she isn't walking yet, I was able to carry her down the aisle with me. It rained all morning and part of the afternoon. Thankfully, it stopped just long enough for the ceremony and pictures, but we were a bit muddy. Well, everyone except Brooke. Her feet never hit the ground. She did go on the dance floor for a little while and was absolutely exhausted by the end of the night.
Brooke loves to eat, and she has started feeding herself most of the time. Miss Independent does not like to be fed by others. She wants to do it herself. She is communicating more with words and signs. She loves music, and she loves to do the hand motions. We normally sing, "If you're happy and you know it", "This little light of mine", and "He's got the whole world in His hands".
We are looking forward to traveling over the 4th of July, then celebrating her birthday several days later. We will do an extra update this month to share those pictures. We are excited to see her with her birthday cake. I'm sure it will be a crazy mess! Who knows, maybe she will be walking in the next week of so. We are not rushing that though!
Hope you are enjoying your summer! We continue to pray for you both!
Love,
Jeff, Jenny & Emmalyn Brooke
